The cycle of death and rebirth is a philosophical perspective rooted in both ancient tradition and theoretical physics, and informs much of my work. Constant change is the only thing that we can reliably predict. It is seen across all forms of energy, and underpins the major events and minor conundrums which make up a life. My paintings have a sense of turbulence which reflects these transformations.
A related interest of mine is in supernormal experiences, ancient esoteric knowledge and quantum theory such as entanglement, all of which defy a rational, materialist understanding of the universe. They suggest the existence of a conscious life force that continues after death; a shared energy which exists beyond space and time.
I work at the intersection of figuration and abstraction; dissolving and materialising elements to invoke a feeling of unrest and disorientation. My process balances control and chaos to mirror the experience of being alive.
