My work concentrates on the moment where everything changes, the chaos it causes and the transformations inherent in the upheaval. “Trouble in Paradise” was intended as an homage to the seasons. After much reworking, it has ended up showing the aftermath of the myth of original sin. So much for perfection!

"Time, times, and half a time" is a biblical reference, primarily from the books of Daniel and Revelation, that represents a period of three and a half years. This phrase is a symbolic representation of time, where "a time" equals one year, "times" equals two years, and "half a time" is half a year. This 3.5 year period is often associated with intense persecution after the apocalypse, and is seen as a period of divine protection and deliverance.

In Plato's Myth of Er, the Fates operate a spindle; a crucial mechanism for the order of the universe and the soul's journey through reincarnation. Souls choose their next lives, emphasising personal accountability, and the importance of virtue and wisdom for a good future. This painting represents the Moirai, as they spin, measure, and cut the thread of life. They embody the predetermined and unavoidable nature of destiny, controlling the life and death of every mortal and God from their birth to their end.

Storms and tornados are my symbol for change and the chaos it brings. They are a recurring theme in my work, and this painting is based around retribution, the weighing up, and living out the consequences of one's actions.

Here,I have conflated the myth of the Great Flood with the myth of Hades and Persephone, thereby representing both the personal and universal experience of the archetype of transformation. The Great Flood is a moral tale that appears in most cultures,.It destroys civilization, often in an act of divine retribution. The myth of Persephone symbolises renewal, mercy, and hope for a transformed existence. Her cyclical return from the Underworld relates that death is not an end but a transition to another state of being.

This series of paintings explores whether the medium of paint can connect viscerally with an audience, in the same way that music does.

This painting explores the connection between sleep and death. In Greek myth they are personified by Hypnos and Thanatos. The composition is based on Ophelia as rendered by Edward Millais., melded with my own reference and symbolism.

This painting is about certain critical moments in life: a summing-up, when the experiences of the past are gathered together, and alchemise into consequences which must be understood and accepted.

An early example of the expulsion from Eden myth. It presents a tension between free will and fate, where their free choice to disobey their God led to the concept of original sin. Eating the forbidden fruit was an exercise of free will, and brought spiritual death and sin upon humanity.

The myth of Icarus tells of a brilliant craftsman, Daedalus, who creates wings of feathers and wax for himself and his son Icarus, to escape King Minos's imprisonment on Crete. Daedalus warns Icarus not to fly too high, but Icarus soars too close to the sun, melting the wax and causing him to drown in the sea below. This myth serves as a cautionary tale about hubris and defying the wisdom of elders.
